JPK Properties Pty Ltd trading as Genuine Connections Illawarra
Effective date: 20 September 2026
Genuine Connections Illawarra respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you provide. Because our matchmaking service relies on getting to know our members, we may collect personal and sometimes sensitive information. We take the privacy, security and confidentiality of this information seriously.
1. Information we collect
When you enquire, apply, attend an event or become a member, we may collect your name, age or date of birth, contact details, gender and relationship preferences, general location, occupation, interests, lifestyle, personality, values, relationship goals, photographs you voluntarily provide, application information, emergency contacts where appropriate, payment and transaction information, service interactions, feedback and other information you voluntarily provide to help us identify potentially suitable matches.
Information about health, sexual orientation, cultural background, religious beliefs or other personal circumstances may be sensitive information. We collect it only where reasonably necessary for our service and where you consent.
2. Identity and police checks
For member safety, we may require identity verification or a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check through an authorised third-party provider. We may record that a check was completed and information necessary to assess eligibility. Where possible, we avoid retaining police-check documents or unnecessary criminal-history information. Completion of a check does not guarantee any person’s character, behaviour or future conduct.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to assess applications, conduct membership interviews where arranged, understand compatibility, identify potential matches, arrange introductions, manage memberships and payments, organise events, communicate service information, respond to complaints or safety concerns, improve the service, meet legal and record-keeping obligations and protect members and staff.
4. Information shared with potential matches
We do not provide another member with your full application, confidential notes, police check or confidential records. With appropriate consent, a limited profile may include a first name, approximate age, photograph, general location, interests, occupation, personality characteristics and relationship goals. Members must not copy, publish, distribute or misuse another member’s information or photographs.
5. Photographs
Photographs are used only for the purpose for which they were collected. We will not use your photograph, name, testimonial or personal story for advertising, social media or promotional material without consent.
6. Confidential conversations
Information discussed during a private membership conversation is confidential. Notes may be retained where reasonably necessary to provide the service, with access restricted to authorised people.
7. Third-party providers
We may use reputable providers for website hosting, membership administration, Stripe payment processing, email, identity verification, background checks, accounting, professional services and event bookings. We disclose only information reasonably necessary for the relevant service and may disclose information where required or authorised by Australian law or to address a serious safety threat.
8. Payment information
Online payments are processed by Stripe. Genuine Connections Illawarra does not store complete credit or debit card details on its own systems. Payment providers maintain their own privacy and security practices.
9. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect information using restricted access, password-protected systems and secure electronic storage. No electronic system is completely secure. Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose and legal, accounting, insurance and business requirements, then securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified where appropriate.
10. Access, correction and consent
You may request access to or correction of your information. We may verify your identity first and may refuse access where Australian law permits or requires it. You may withdraw consent, although this may affect our ability to provide matchmaking services.
11. Cancellation, cookies and complaints
After membership cancellation, we stop using information for active matchmaking but may retain necessary legal, financial, insurance, dispute-resolution or safety records. The website may use cookies and similar technologies for operation and service improvement.
Privacy concerns may be sent to hello@genuineconnectionsillawarra.com.au or 0400 154 531. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
12. Policy changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes to services, technology, business practices or legal obligations. The current version and effective date will be published here.
